Hi Chris,

I found out your recommendations on CentOS O/S configurations required for IQ to work properly; but this email was written by you on May 9th, 2014. That was more than 5 years ago.

CentOS seemed picking up the steam nowadays.

I heard from the senior directors one month ago that IQ version 16.x on CentOS had been "officially supported" even though it's not "certified" by SAP/Sybase. Was this a true statement from SAP/Sybase IQ engineers?

Can you confirm that all the following should be done at CentOS O/S configuration level at "CentOS Linux release 7.6.1810 (Core)"?

"
?         ksh

?         compat-glibc-headers

?         compat-glibc

?         compat-libstdc++-33

*       openmotif
*       xorg-x11-fonts-ISO8859-1-
*       libXp
*       libXt
*       libXtst
*       libXi
*       libXmu
*       libXext
*       libSM
*       libICE
*       libX11

In particular, also install the 32-bit version (i686) of libXtst as it is required by the 32-bit java installer in order for the jvm to connect to X for the installation dialogs to show.

The openmotif and xorg fonts, while not strictly required by IQ, are used by the OpenClient ?dsedit? utility.

This may not be exhaustive, but should help.

The other thing that might help is to confirm your LOCALE setting if you use isql. I have had issues with the OS default of en_US.utf8. You may need to adjust your locale ot en_US.UTF8.
"

Thank you.

Regards,

Steve Shen

Is there a restriction of what type of Linux that Sybase IQ can run on? Can it be run on Centos?

Supported distributions are RedHat and SuSE. It will run on just about any recent x86-64 linux distribution however.

I run on CentOS all the time.

Over time I have put together the following package list for IQ and ASE. You should make sure the latest x86-64versions of the following packages are installed:

?         ksh

?         compat-glibc-headers

?         compat-glibc

?         compat-libstdc++-33

*       openmotif
*       xorg-x11-fonts-ISO8859-1-
*       libXp
*       libXt
*       libXtst
*       libXi
*       libXmu
*       libXext
*       libSM
*       libICE
*       libX11
