[IQUG] [iqug] Clone IQ server question

The symlinks are extremely handy, especially if you anticipate either a MPX
config or using Snap/Clone luns for your storage.

Depending on how you set it up, you may want to create the first files in
the IQ_SYSTEM_MAIN and IQ_SYSTEM_TEMP small, as Ron says, but with a reserve
size to accommodate growth.

That way you can decide to increase the size of the first dbfile without
having to drop anything, if you are setting up a simple IQ server, to keep
things flexible.

I would also suggest using symlinks in a standard directory structure
relative to the .db file and thereby allow relative path addressing to
simplify future device placement.

Yes, you do not need any USER datastore to build/configure an IQ node. Just

I often build these with default filesystem store, which makes them tiny,
then add real MAIN/TEMP/USER stores and drop the original filesystem stores.

All you need is this as a minimum:

create database 'DBName'

      iq page size 65536 -- 65536 131072 262144 524288

      iq path 'main.iq'

      temporary path 'temp.iq';

I'm building a gold copy IQ server which I can clone future builds.

At minimum I plan to have the IQ sysmain and IQ system temp and no main

Can I still seed this GLD copy with set options, groups, and users without
creating the main dbspaces?
