lock devices to character raw devices in order for IQ to be able to access =
them.

Mark,

We certainly use raw devices for our IQ installs however since they are man=
aged by Veritas volume manager IQ could never access them directly unless w=
e run the raw command.

I think we spoke about this offline last year and the answer was it was an =
IQ feature so my Linux admins are asking if this behavior goes away in IQ 1=
6.0.

Thanks

No. We still require raw devices for multiplex.

What is the issue on your side? IQ and Linux don't have issues using raw d=
evices. In fact, that's 90% or more of our implementations on Linux. What=
 errors are you seeing?

IQ cannot talk directly to raw devices currently on Linux and we have to is=
sue the raw command to enable IQ to access them.

Does this behavior change in IQ 16.0?

Thanks
