[IQUG] start_server command hangs

Hi Julie,

If you encounter similar issues next time, I would suggest you restart IQ 2 or 3 times after the recovery completes successfully the first time. I would also ensure IQ Main Store is kept at less than 86% at all times, especially if the database grows > 800 Gb where any version(s) held can blow these IQ space close to 94% where you'll experience degradation in query times.

This is based on our past experience with running IQ 12.7 on a Solaris 10, 64bit (M5000) server. We also run sp_iqcheckedb every weekend to ensure issues are identified early on.

Regards
Jun

Subject: [IQUG] start_server command hangs

Hello everybody,
Our 12.7 server ran out of main space previously while performing weekly regular backup. DBA on call killed all db processes and issued start_asiq command. The recovery took more than 3 hours, this is the end of last srvlog file:

I. 04/28 03:27:08. Starting database "iqpr04" (/opt/iq/db/iqpr04.db) at Sun Apr 28 2013 03:27

This is how the end of iqmsg file looks like:

I. 04/28 06:33:29. 0000000000 CloseDatabase

No files have been changes since 6:33 am - neither iqmsg, nor log, nor db, not srvlog and stderr logs.

If I grep ps -ef processes, I still see multiple processes

Is the process just hanging? Should I stop it and try to restart again? Thanks
