One suggestion I have is that since the dbfile names must match, that we use
soft-links to create "friendly" names which are links to the actual devices.
This allows us to easily move or clone IQ nodes and still keep the names the
I often use simple names such as 'main1, main2.'
These are in turn soft-links to the actual devices on the host.

Subject: [IQUG] Backing up dbpspace X and restoring to dbpspace Y
As the subject says, I want to try do a backup of (e.g.) dbspace iq_edw_prod
and restore it to iq_edw_dev.
I get an error message if I try to do this by simply specifying the
different dbpspace name
BACKUP DATABASE READONLY DBSPACES iq_edw_prod to
'/data/backup/EDW/iq_edw_prod.bak' SIZE 50000000
RESTORE DATABASE 'gss_iq' READONLY DBSPACES iq_edw_dev from
Error: [Sybase][ODBC Driver][Sybase IQ]Error during backup/restore: Invalid
dbspace name "iq_edw_dev"
This is kinda why I wanted to get the VLDB option and I won't have a very
good Friday if this isn't supported.
So hopefully I'm just missing some syntax, has anyone done anything similar?
